If you are new to the exercising world then you probably don’t have the same mindset as a person that exercises regularly. Once you get a few good workouts under your belt you will probably fall in love with exercising and begin to incorporate your exercise routine into your everyday life.
The type of exercise that you chose to do is not the most important part of getting in shape. You should settle on an exercise that you can do vigorously for at least half of an hour at a time and that you enjoy doing.
Your entire exercise routine doesn’t need to consist of a half hour of the same exercise or even the same types of exercises but you should strive to get at least thirty minutes of exercising in a single workout. Most experts suggest that the human body starts approaching the point of maximum benefit at about thirty minutes per workout three or four times per week.
Before you start exercising you should make sure that your muscles are warmed up and that your cardiovascular system is ready to move on to something more strenuous. A good way to warm up is by jogging outside, doing jumping jacks, lunges or by running on a treadmill.
If you fail to warm up you will have a higher chance of injuring yourself during your workout and you will also limit the amount of work that your muscles will be able to do. The more work that your muscles get to do in the workout the more time they will spend later rebuilding themselves.
One suggestion for planning your workouts is that you actually plan them. This means that you will know beforehand what exercises you will be doing so that you are mentally prepared and so that you don’t waste time in between your workouts.
While you are exercising you will probably want to have a water bottle on hand to keep you hydrated. If you are running outside and you think that it would be less than practical to jog with a water bottle in your hand you can plan your rout so that you pass some public drinking fountains along the way.
At the end of your workout you should make sure that you get a good cool down by stretching. Cooling down in exercises will help your heart rate return to normal and will keep you from getting hurt afterwards even though it won’t actually help you from getting sore if you have been participating in anaerobic exercises.
The trick to start exercising and staying with it is to simply find something that you have fun doing. Have fun keeping your body healthy!
