Tomorrow is Fourth of July and we want to wish all of our NordicTrackCoupons.com readers a very happy and safe Independence Day!
While it’s always fun to gather with friends and family to have a bar-b-que and light some fireworks, don’t let this allow you to slip off your diet and exercise plan. Don’t let the festivities draw you back and rewind any hard work you’ve done thus far. So we wanted to share with you some tips on how to fight those unhealthy choices and enjoy your BBQ’s in a healthy way!
To start off your Independence Day, make sure to get in a good workout early. We know many of you have the days off, so there is no excuse in not getting in a good workout. But you will want to make sure you get in it in first thing, in case anything comes up later in the day that might derail you from being able to. If you are pushed for time to get ready for your celebrations, try this Incline Workout, or this HIIT workout to burn tons of calories in a little amount of time.
Eat a small healthy snack before you go. Eating something before you go will ensure that you do not over indulge at the BBQ and leave you overly full on unhealthy foods.
Bring your own healthy side. Many times you go to a friend or family members house for a BBQ, and there are zero healthy food options. To ensure you will have at least one healthy option, bring your own. Many people like when you offer to bring a side, and many ask others to do so. Bring a greek yogurt and ranch dip with veggies, a fruit platter, or a spinach salad with mixed in nuts and fruit.
Many times at celebration gathers alcohol is involved. A good idea is to switch off your beverages with one alcohol drink, then water, going ever other. This keeps you from getting too tipsy, as well as keeping you hydrated.
Skip the bun. Unless there are 100% whole wheat options available, it’s a good idea to skip the bun completely. If lettuce is provided as a burger topping, make yourself a lettuce wrap, wrapping your lettuce around the meat instead of using a bun. A much lower calorie and carb option.
Stay away from the food table. Many times people nibble here and there out of boredom without thinking about it. To stop yourself from doing this don’t hangout near the table with all of the food. Get your plate and find an area away to eat, waiting a while for your brain to tell you if you are full or not.
Organize a physical activity. At BBQ’s many people need fun activities to do. Suggest playing volleyball, basketball or any game to get you all up and moving. This keeps you from again eating out of boredom, and also helps to burn off a few extra calories.
Most of all Have Fun! Don’t let yourself get too tied down with calorie counting today, enjoy your time with family and friends. Be cautious of your decisions, yet if you eat second helping of potato salad, don’t let it ruin your night. Make up for it the next day with an intense workout, forget about it now and instead enjoy the moment you are in!
Happy Fourth Of July and Be Safe Out There!!!
